Kaizen means gradual, little & unending improvement. The Kaizen approach is more commonly known as continuous improvement. This approach to performance improvements offers a number of advantages over the more commonly known LEAN/SIGMA methods.

In simple terms a Kaizen performance improvement programme will deliver many small but frequent operational improvements. These bite size improvements are more palatable, easily implemented and likely to succeed.

The rate of improvement with a Kaizen or LEAN/SIGMA approach are comparable, but should an improvement not have the desired outcome then the Kaizen approach enables you to replan and get back on track more quickly than a failed LEAN/SIGMA improvement step.
