What is Shiro Bara Ju Jitsu Do?
Traditional Ju Jitsu is a Japanese self defence orientated martial art developed from the Japanese battlefield arts of
many millenia ago. Modern Ju Jitsu however draws its knowledge from many sources and arts around the world, so what
was once a Japanese art is now a more modern eclectic art with techniques drawn from various systems from all over
the world.
Shiro Bara Ju Jitsu is a self defence art and not aimed at or suitable for competition fighting. The Ju Jitsu we practice
is scenario led and includes some of the folloiwng groups of techniques:-
- Escapes from grabs and holds
- Strikes (Kicks, punches & other strikes)
- Modern weapons
- Throws and takedowns
- Locks & dislocations
- Strangles & chokes
Shiro Bara Ju Jitsu has been formally recognised as a new modern western style martial art.

Why Ju Jitsu?
The are many reasons for practising Ju Jitsu. Whatever your reasons are for considering practising Ju Jitsu we hope that
we provide a fun and safe environment where real life and self defence skills can be practised among friends.
Ju Jitsu is a physically tough art that does not appeal to everybody. Ju Jitsu does have a "crash, bang, whallop" image
that attracts some and deters others. However, if your reasons for wanting to practice a martial art is primarily self defence
then you should not fool yourself that self defence is anything other than "crash, bang, whallop".
